Soul Name is a cultural
picture book which explains the importance of a child's given name, through
the eyes of the eight-year-old narrator. This new children's book brings to
life the celebration of welcoming a new member into a Ghanaian family. By
introducing the significance of a chosen name, the book teaches the customs
and dialect of an African people (the Fanti). The story draws in the reader
who is invited to figure out his or her own soul name.
